Biography

The Verse are China’s one and only Funk big-band with over ten members and a mission which is even bigger.   Previous to Unity Recordings and Funk*Fever  Beijingfunk.com ,  they were the sole torch-bearers for Funk music in a nation of over a billion people!  The lead singer and band leader Huang Bo is well educated in the history of modern music in the West and irked by the peacemeal nature Chinese people’s understanding of the roots of modern styles, he regularly tours the country giving lectures and promoting broader understanding.  Having identified the lack of Funk in China as a ‘hole in their soul’,  The Verse have been regular ambassadors for the culture playing at music festivals and high profile music events and gaining a well deserved reputation for their energetic live performances.  Having gone through over 40 musicians in the last three years the Verse in a constantly evolving and improving project that is gradually attracting like minded and talented people to its cause!
